Orange Virus Tuning Review

This is an honest and personal review of a car tuning company called Orange Virus Tuning. A while back, I’d say it’s been about 2 years ago. I was doing research and my research was for power modifications for my 2012 Mazda Mazda3 Skyactive 2.0.

I already had some power modifications done to it. Those power or performance modifications that were installed are, custom catback exhaust system, cold air intake , and performance rotors and pads.

Nevertheless I still needed some more power through either a turbo, supercharger , nitrous, or some tuning solution. While doing my searching for one of these mods to work on my car, I came to the conclusion that none of these mods would work. Because my Mazda3 is not a tuner car, and because it’s a higher compression than the previous generation Mazda3 it’s makes it a lot harder to modify.

Then one day I came across Orange Virus Tuning!

At that time, (which was two years ago), Orange Virus Tuning offered tune kits for Honda’s , Nissan’s , Infinity’s , Mazda’s and Toyota and Lexus. Now since they tuned Mazda’s, I found a solution to get 30 more whp out of my Mazda. So I bought the Mazda3 Skyactive tune kit for roughly $600.

When the tune kit for my Mazda3 came, Matthew Wilson, the owner of the company began tuning my Mazda3 immediately. He tuned it by having me send the datalogs via email, and sending me back EcuTek flash files to flash and write over my Mazda3 ecu. Within one month I had it tuned for E85 and the second month for 93 octane premium fuel.

When all was set and done, I was very pleased , the car can now run on 2 types of fuel with more power and it felt and ran like a 3.0 V6. If there is a problem Matthew will take care of it right away. Down below I have a link to Orange Virus Tuning , which is based out of California.

Now unfortunately Orange Virus Tuning is going to be only doing Toyota tune kits, don’t take my word for it ,this is Matthew Wilson’s statement.

Columbia SC Needs More E85

I would like to start my story by addressing this serious concern to the car culture in Columbia SC. There needs to be more E85 pumps in Columbia SC.

Now before I explain why the car culture in Columbia SC needs E85 and why the car culture in Columbia SC might not grow as quick or be that popular as in different cities. I have to first explain what E85 is.

Sold in yellow nozzles at gas stations, in almost all cities and states. E85 is a type of fuel which is made out of 85 percent ethanol.( just what E85 suggests) The component or ingredient for E85 is usually corn, but it can be made out of other products like grapes. Therefore to conclude E85 is actually alcohol! To wrap up my explanation to what E85 actually is, it is actually basic racing fuel! NASCAR uses something like E95 or higher which is more precedent of alcohol.

Now I wouldn’t have wrote this post if the lack of E85 was not a problem in Columbia SC.( Now what I mean by the lack of E85 in Columbia is not only Columbia but the surrounding cities as well.) To begin, four years ago having E85 in the Columbia area was not a problem. As a matter of fact there were 5-10 E85 pumps located at gas stations around all parts of town. Now in 2019 there is only one E85 pump located in Columbia SC. The location of the pump is on Decker BLVD , at a Spinx gas station.

Well everyone might say, it’s not that bad we still at least have E85 at a Spinx. True but consider that fact that not everyone who is a car guy lives by the north east side of Columbia. The car guys that don’t live in that part of town maybe traveling up to 45 minutes to get E85. Now some of my readers might say so what, but let me explain why that’s not good. First of all, car guys will be using some of their cars that run on E85. Since E85 burns quicker ,a lot more fuel gets burned by the time they get home from the station. Which means more frequent 45 minute trips to the gas station.

Now how would one E85 pump location affect the car culture? Well there would be less people tuning there cars for E85 and less people owning more expensive cars that can run on E85. Thus there would be less business for the gas stations and and car dealerships and salesman. Now my final point of view of why we would need more E85 pumps in Columbia SC. One fact is that it’s cheaper to buy and make, this is saves money for both the consumer and producer. The second fact is that more business can me made with more E85 pumps, it will bring more customers to the gas stations and to the e-commerce, because car guys will be ordering tuning kits and car parts. So therefore the economy will begin to rise even more. Third E85 burns way cleaner then gas , therefore it makes it more environmental safe.

So with all these facts place, what should the cars guys and car culture do? The right thing to do, is call and email the owners of gas stations to put E85 back on their pumps. Now call and email the owners of gas stations only in Columbia SC, not Greenville-Spartanburg area, because that area has a lot of E85 pump locations.

I hope that not only car guys and the car culture will read this post, but also business men and owners of gas stations or people that have the capability to place more E85 pumps into force.
